Rumor has it that the new Panasonic Lumix Micro Forth Thirds Sensor camera will will be called G9 and will have similar styling as the G7/G85/GH5. We have not seen any new sensor registered either from Panasonic or Sony so we expect the Sony sensor that the GH5 uses which has no AA filter and is 20MP with Contrast only based Auto Focus system.
The rumor also suggest that Panasonic will follow the lead from Olympus and have a High MP mode - and better Olympus by having a 80MP mode. It is also rumored to have a very large buffer - 60images
We do not expect it to have Phase Detect Auto Focus which is ironic as some rumors have suggested that it is geared for landscape and wildlife shooting. Wildlife shooting requires fast auto focus.
The rumors also suggest that it is a High End stills camera which makes us wonder if it is meant to compete with the Olympus EM1 MII which has a High MP mode and fast 60 FPS - 60 Frames Per Second and deep buffer.
The G9 is expected to be around $1400.
We suspect the styling will be similar to that of the G85, DSLR type styling with EVF in Center.
- Expected availability is early next 2018.
- To have a LCD on top like many DSLR's
- 80MP picture mode - only good for still subjects
- large Buffer - 60 frames per burst
